4 tasks law firms should delegate
Law - 24/02/2022
We don’t have to tell you the hard work that goes into running a law firm.
You need to focus your efforts on making clients happy. But you can’t do that if you’re spending too much time on tasks that could be easily delegated.
If you’re not sure where to loosen the reins, we’ve come up with a few examples of tasks to consider outsourcing.
Tasks that take too long
There are plenty of admin tasks that take up a lot of time. Even if they’re not particularly difficult to do, they can still be time consuming. Especially as a lot of it needs to be 100% accurate.
You might think that managing your bookkeeping is something you can do quickly to get out of the way. But when it comes to the accounts, it’s never a one and done job. It needs constant attention if you want a clear financial picture all the time. That’s a lot of hours to delegate for your accounts management.
Outsourcing your accounts will open much more time for you to focus on other aspects of your business. In the hands of an expert, they’ll be done much more quickly and efficiently anyway. It’s a win win.
Tasks you’re not an expert in
You know how the saying goes: jack of all trades, master of none. When it comes to the legal profession, that just doesn’t cut the mustard. You need the legal expertise to get your clients results.
That leaves little room to spend time working on tasks you’re not as good at. You might think doing some jobs yourself that others could take off your plate is a great way to cut costs. But you need to be honest with yourself and admit where someone else might be stronger in that area.
Take the accounts, for example. If you’re a small firm, you might think it’s better to just manage them yourself. But if it’s not your area of expertise, you could make mistakes that really jeopardise your financial management.
Tasks you just don’t like doing
Let’s face it, everyone wants to enjoy their job. Most people don’t go into the legal profession without loving what they do. So why should you spend huge chunks of time on other tasks you don’t really like doing? Especially when you could be outsourcing those tasks to a trained expert in that field.
If you’re spending time and effort on jobs you hate, chances are they’re not going to be done as well, or as efficiently. And you could be depleting your productivity as well.
Tasks that can be automated
Nowadays, technology is becoming a small business’s best friend. There are so many ‘mundane’ but necessary tasks that can be automated if you go digital.
Keeping track of invoices, payroll, expenses, and debts. It can be done so much faster if you use automated systems instead. And the tighter security and higher accuracy that comes with automation is an added bonus.
Why waste your time manually entering everything into a spreadsheet when there’s software that can do it for you? And better?
