Introducing Darren Whelan, our new Head of Compliance!
Business - 30/01/2024
Darren is a legal finance and compliance specialist with an impressive career that spans four decades (and three versions of the Accounts Rules!)
Having started out as a Legal Cashier in 1998, Darren has cemented his expertise in a variety of sectors including IT, Legal and Education. He is the author of the ‘VAT for Law Firms’ Compliance Handbook for the Association of Legal Compliance & Accounts (ALCA) and currently works on their Client Support Panel as a Consultant and Trainer, so it’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about compliance.
Darren has experience handling external audits, regulator investigations, and VAT and PAYE inspections, and is well-known in the industry for speaking publicly about legal finance, compliance and change management topics. He also played a significant role in the Law Society of England and Wales Working Group crafting the Law Society’s current guidance on disbursements.
“In his new role, Darren will oversee and help us to develop our internal processes to ensure we’re working in the most compliant way possible, both for ourselves and our clients.
At Numero, we always strive to offer the best service possible. Adding Darren to our team with his vast knowledge and experience in the legal sector means we’ll be able to offer our clients an enhanced service and expand our offering in terms of written policies and procedures.
We’re very excited to have Darren join us!”
